To be quite frank about the whole idea of health and fitness, the lack of discipline in this area is a lack of love for one's self. People oftentimes mask this lack of discipline by pursuing other areas of their lives to overshadow their shortcomings.....oftentimes in the mask of career success and financial success. They hide the sadness and insecurities with jokes, smiles, and personality about their situation, and while this coping mechanism is admirable, it only leaves them more exhausted because there are few things in this life that are more exhausting than living a lie.
I only know this because I've been blessed with the opportunity to work with many people on this very topic and the transformations that come with this added discipline is remarkable. The external changes are phenomenal, but what's important is what happens on the inside. People become alive with confidence, swagger, and ambition. They get their priorities in line. They get in tune with significance in their lives. Oftentimes their significance was so tied up in their career success that they completely forgot about their own personal dreams and bought into someone else's because of a lack of confidence in themselves.
Some things to consider before you take on this discipline. Understand that any discipline is something that needs to become part of your lifestyle. It cannot be a passing fad and it cannot be measured in days and weeks, but in months and years. Humble yourself to seek guidance. surround yourself with people that will aid in your development of this discipline. Pour into your mind as much if not more than you pour into your body. change always needs to happen between the ears if it will stick externally.
Your actions in this area should bear fruit. re-read the title of this blog-post. Quite literally you are wearing your discipline on your sleeve. You can't hide from it. face the music and become a positive influence in your life....and then the lives of others. That's what greatness is all about.
