So, here we go....Dorothy Strong. Literally, I woke up at 2am last night thinking about the Wizard of Oz. Yeah, it's kind of scary in temple of Brando, but it seems to work out most of the time. Let's just say God has my back. Anyways, I'm not sure if I was dreaming about the movie or what, but I couldn't fall back to sleep until I figured out why I couldn't get the Wizard of Oz out of my mind. In case you don't me, I hop around quite a bit with my thoughts, but one thing that you need to know is I'm very passionate about helping people become high performers in their life. Physically, financially, spiritually, you name it, I wanna help em out. Since that is my passion and now you know a little about how my brain operates I immediately thought about the various primary characters in The Wizard of Oz. You got the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man, the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda (sp) the Good Witch, the all-powerful OZ, and of course....Dorothy. As I got to thinking about these characters I realized that they emulate a lot of people that I know. Let's break these characters down a little:
The Cowardly Lion: I know a lot of people just like the Lion. They are strong in appearance and even personality, but the moment they are faced with a fear or they get outside their comfort zone they run for the hills, or go absent, or they become the world's best excuse maker. They lack courage, which is the ability to move forward in the face of fears. Are you a Cowardly Lion? You'll have a ton of regret when God calls your number and he asks you why you didn't accomplish all that he created you to accomplish simply because you were unable to overcome some fears. If this is you, don't waste another moment feeding the seeds of doubt in your mind. You gotta feed that Lion some courage through exposing yourself to fear.
The Scarecrow: If I only had a brain.....the interesting thing about the Scarecrow is that despite his belief that he doesn't have a brain, he never really acts or appears to be dumb. He just lacks confidence in his own intelligence. He may lack conviction, but he doesn't lack a brain...Are you the Scarecrow? Do you feel that you lack intelligence because you don't have a degree or letters behind your name to make you feel special? I'm telling you right now, formal education is incredibly limiting in comparison to self-education. Start believing and start reading good books to develop your mind.
The Tin Man: Despite the Tin Man not having a heart, he is arguably the kindest character in the entire movie. So does he actually lack heart at all? Did he really need a heart gangster chain to make it official? This dude had it the entire time! He did rust up when he wasn't oiled, so let's run with that......Are you the Tin Man? Do you have a kindness that is unique and powerful but doesn't get utilized? Is your heart and kindness rusty? You gotta lube that skill up because people need to hear life speaking words from your mouth. Do you know how many people go years without hearing a "job well done" or a "you look pretty today" or a "you are really good at that" comment? Speak life all you Tin Men!
The Wicked Witch of the West: You know it's funny, we all know this person, heck, you may be this person. If this is you, you gotta stop living such a miserable existence. You know who you are, always hoping for the worst to happen to others so they can feel as miserable as you. Always the cynical person with all the answers and none of the results. The person that zaps the energy from a room. Are you a Wicked Witch? My advice, surround yourself with positivity and learn to simply shut your mouth. Read the Book "Eternal Optimism" and start smiling, even if it's forced. You gotta exercise those smiling muscles so you get rid of your RBF (look it up if you need to).
The Good Witch: She's pretty rad. Moving on
The all-powerful OZ: In today's social media, texting, and electronic communication world, this guy/gal is all-too-common. Let me sit behind my smart phone or computer screen and appear to be wise, powerful, strong, yet, when the curtains are pulled open there's nothing but a person who is all bark and no bite. I see this all the time! Do you? Don't be a poser arm-chair quarterback. There's nothing more annoying than the guy or gal who sits and criticizes that which they wish they could do. Are you the all-powerful OZ? My advice, get outside the curtain. There's no life behind a computer screen. There's more to communication than texted words. Use you voice, get out and mix it up with real, live people. God built us to be in community with one another.
Dorothy: This girl had it going on. She conquered fears, overcame adversity, led the journey to OZ, spoke life into her friends, killed her enemy, and spoke boldy when she needed to stand up for herself. This gal had a backbone. She had belief and she didn't let anything get in her way. Are you Dorothy? If you aren't, you should desire to be. #Dorothy Strong
