According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube.
Here is the quickest and most effective way to create more time in your life. the "i'm too busy excuse" is lame and everyone knows it. people nowadays are creating their schedules and living their lives around their favorite television shows and watching their favorite sports teams. I'm an avid sports fan, but men, this next comment is aimed at you, how many fantasy football leagues are you in? how much timem, in addition to the tv watching, are you spending making trades, acquiring guys from the waiver wire, etc.....
my point is this, which i'm sure will ruffle some feathers because it makes them uncomfortable and will likely result in not so many "likes" on facebook, tv isn't adding one ounce of value to your life 99% of the time. i'm no so naive to think that one can't get some positive input from tv or a good movie a fraction of the time; however, we spend way too much time allowing the negative input from the 99.9% affect our minds.
I can tell you this, at the end of your life, the last thing on your mind is going to be:
1) Man, I wished I would have watched more grey's anatomy
2) Gee whiz, sons of anarchy really enlightened my life and i hope their is SOA in heaven.
What will likely be on your mind is this:
1) those 9 years i spent on the tv; i really dropped the ball on that one.
2) what if I would have spend those 9 years chasing after long-lost dreams and played with my kids more or spent more time with family or heaven forbid exercised a bit more? Perhaps it would have prolonged the life? Perhaps?
Life is an occasion folks, rise to it! Make a difference. get off your duff and out of your cave and do something that will impact another person's life for the better. i'll bet everything i have that it'll make you feel better than any episode of "grey's."
